His name Oroumieh. The largest salt water lake in the Middle Eastlies in the land of the mullahs, Iran.With an area of approximately 5200 square km, Lake Oroumiehbeen famous as a place of migration birds flamingos, pelicans andgulls.
Oroumieh was for many centuries famous for its apple orchards,grapes, walnuts, almonds (almond), daffodils, potatoes, aromaticherbs and drinks.
However, it all seems a distant memory. The dry season, irrigationis the wrong policy, development, and damming the rivers thatsupply water to the lake, changing the third largest lake in the world,is now a huge salt desert arid nan.
