"We are pleased to be working with the Indonesian Eye. A series of specially selected artworks will be brought to London in the autumn. This will be an eye opener to the public and international guests to the culture of Indonesia as a whole," said Nigel Hurst, CEO of Saatchi Gallery exhibition opening at Ciputra, Jalan Prof. Dr. Satrio, South Jakarta, Tuesday, June 7, 2011.

Various works of art from 18 artists featured in the exhibition is presented by Prudential. Simultaneously, an illustrated book titled "Indonesian Eye: Indonesian Contemporary Art" was also launched. All works of painting and sculpture are included in this exhibition have been selected by the curatorial team of international collaboration and Indonesia as Serenella Ciclitira, Tsong-Zung Chang (Guest Professor of China Art Academy in Hangzhou), Nigel Hurst, and curator Jim Supangkat.

"This is the first time Indonesia's work will be exhibited at the Saatchi, the gallery is very influential in the international art world. I think this is a chance yes, effective measures to introduce our work," said curator Indonesia, Jim Supangkat.

According to him, before, the work of Indonesian artists had been frequently performed abroad, but for the new Saatchi gallery of classmates will be conducted in August through October. The process of selection or election of the works should also be considered carefully, because the allure abroad sometimes different from Indonesia.

"International team identifies the artist as curator of the local collecting artwork for the final selection to be displayed at the exhibition. It was only a slight difference in the way we look at works of art for this exhibition," he said.

This further indicates that the work of Indonesia's burgeoning contemporary art today can compete at international level.

"Because of lack of information (about the works of contemporary art), many are less familiar and amazed that we not only works of traditional art only, of course, with this exhibition they soon realized. That's a more mainstream and certainly they will be ogled by the collector," said Jim Supangkat . (Adi)
